The wine of the week is a B.R. Cohn Winery 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from California's North Coast AVA. The North Coast AVA is a large appellation that includes the six counties of Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano and encompasses many smaller sub-appellations all of which receive the cool fog and breezes generated by the cold water of the Pacific Ocean. A distinctive purple color is indicative of blackberries with floral overtones. The palate showcases a subtle smokiness while mild tannins are complemented by the pleasant tartness of under ripe blackberries, giving way to a moderately long oak finish. This $25 bottle will easily be the guest of honor at any dinner party and can also be enjoyed sitting by the fire on a cool night.
