This week's wine of the week is from Freemark Abbey Winery located in St. Helena in the middle of Napa Valley. Freemark Abbey is an American version of a negociant, purchasing their grapes from various vineyards located in different AVA's throughout the valley. As a participant in the 1976 Judgment of Paris, they gained world acclaim with their 1969 Cabernet Sauvignon and 1972 Pinot Chardonnay. Fast forward to the present and they are still making great wines to this day. Our wine of the week is a 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that displays a beautiful ruby color and exhibits notes of oak, vanilla, and tart cherries on the nose. The palate showcases medium to high tannins which are pleasantly balanced with a long finish of oak, under ripe plums and black currants. Purchase as a gift for the wine connoisseur in your life, or indulge in a bottle for yourself, and you won't be disappointed.
