Imagine an adult wine themed afternoon of games and prizes. Imagine collecting your tickets when you win a game so that you can go to the prize counter to exchange your tickets for wine themed prizes. Sounds like a kids' game center/restaurant that you may remember taking your kids to or going for a party? Sounds fun?? You bet it was! The event was the Wine Festival at the Cohn Restaurant Group's Coasterra Restaurant situated on San Diego's Harbor Island with an amazing view of the bay; a stunning setting for a day of fun. Games such as wine “Family Feud”, a wine scent identification wheel, guess the wine vintage, and cork boxing (a version of cornhole using wine corks and a wine case box) were among the many games to play. Prizes ranged from bottles of wine to cooler bags, cheese planers, t-shirts, yoga mats, hats and more. There were enough games and tickets to win that no one went home empty handed. And all the attendees were winners when it came to the wine and food. A fabulous array of free flowing wines from all over the world were easily paired with a plentiful taco station featuring carne asada, carnitas, swordfish, pollo and black beans with potatoes. To round out the menu, tray passed hors d'oeuvres included tasty bites such as coconut shrimp, chicken skewers, and meatballs, so regardless of your taste, there was something to savor. Whew! What a busy, fun, and exciting festival under a clear blue sky on picture perfect San Diego Bay. It was an engaging way to hone our wine knowledge, try new things, and maybe even show off a bit! Once again, we had a great time and learned some things as well, by attending a unique wine and food event.
