Recently we attended the 10th annual San Diego Spirits Festival at The Broadway Pier Pavilion. While we love our wine tasting events, this festival gave us a chance to branch out and try some new brands of distilled spirits, cocktails, and a few wines and beers. The festival showcased many well know brands such as Don Julio, Lillet, Ketel One, and Revel as well lesser known upstarts in the spirit industry such as Adictivo Tequila, Dano's Dangerous Tequila, and J. Seeds Apple Cider Whiskey. Many of the spirits companies offered not only samples of their liquors but also samples of cocktails they prepared using their spirits. Cocktails such as Nectarine Sweet Iced Tea made with 44 North's nectarine vodka, a mojito featuring Blue Chair Bay's white rum, Dry Town's cucumber smash and a pre-made canned Moscow Mule from Mule 2.0 were refreshing ways to experience old and new spirit companies. In addition to the spirits, several local restaurants such as The Melting Pot, Fishmongers Market and Sadie Rose Baking Co. were also on hand offering samples of some of their favorite dishes and Cousin's Maine Lobster food truck was in attendance with many delectable lobster dishes for purchase.
The opportunity to broaden our horizons with spirits, cocktails and tasty bites
was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon and expand our palates.
